RollingPlainsIP welcomes contributions from legal practitioners, researchers, academics, students, policymakers, and professionals working in or with a deep interest in intellectual property rights. If you have insights to share on IP and its intersections with human rights, sustainable development or emerging technologies,we would love to hear from you.
What We Publish
We accept original articles on topics including, but not limited to:
- Intellectual property practice in East Africa.
- Copyright, Trademarks, Trade Secrets and Patents.
- Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions
- Artificial Intelligence and emerging IP issues
- IP policy developments.
- Practical guides for inventors, creators, and businesses
We prioritise pieces that are accurate, accessible, and grounded in current law or practice.
Submission Guidelines
Length: 1000 – 2,000 words excluding footnotes/references.
Format: Upload your article as a Word document (.docx), typed in Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 line spacing. Use clear headings and subheadings. Footnotes or endnotes are acceptable for citations; avoid dense in-text referencing.
Author Information.
Please include the following with your submission:
- Full name and professional title
- Institutional or firm affiliation (if any)
- Contact email address
Editorial & Publication Process
All submissions are reviewed by the editorial team. We may accept, decline, or return a piece with suggested revisions. We do not guarantee publication timelines but will endeavour to acknowledge receipt within 5 working days and communicate a decision within 2 weeks.
We publish one contributor article per month. To be considered for a given month’s publication, submissions must be received by the 15th of the preceding month. Submissions received after this deadline will be considered for the following month. Authors will be notified of their publication date in advance.
We reserve the right to edit accepted pieces for clarity, length, and house style. Substantive edits will be shared with the author before publication.
Compensation
RollingPlainsIP does not offer any compensation to contributors. Published authors will however gain visibility among a growing readership of practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners engaged with IP issues
